Black on your walls: A little scary or very chic? I think a small space, such as a foyer or a side room, would be marvelous with black walls - it would bring the intimacy in that much closer and provide a surprising amount of coziness. Keep the color contrast high and small, with maybe accents of blue and/or white like Barclay Fryery does below, and you've got a masculine and sophisticated room. Use feminine shapes keeping the same color theory in mind and you'll get something surprisingly soft and refined.
