A Girl Can Dream

But this lady doesn't have to. A gal-about-town in Dallas, Cindy Rachofsky, bought this McQueen piece just 'cause. Lucky little lady.

Me Likey Dooney & Burke

A friend of mine had a great classic, clean leather bag on the other day - reminiscent of old school Gucci and always classic Hermes. I asked where she had gotten it and she shocked the heck out of me when she admitted that it was none other than Dooney & Burke, a throwback to my mother's closet. I personally own three Dooney bags - all of the uber-preppy, hunting variety - but I never thought I'd find exactly the bag I was looking for for under $400! (I am lusting after an Hermes crossbody bag, but what else is new). Behold, the bags of yesteryear, now available online and in stores.

The Dooney & Burke Alto Collection, available online

The Saddle Bag, $350

 The Double Gusset Bag, $350

The Large Shopper, $395

2 points, canada!

McGill Design Group in Canada gets me, sigh.

Berardi SS11

If this doesn’t get you in the mood for spring (+ New York’s “heat wave” this week – above 40! whohoo!), I don’t know what will. So pretty.

Peas, please.

these recipes for pea hummus look pretty dang good, no?

1 pound frozen baby sweet peas, thawed

  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, grated on microplane grater or pressed through garlic press
  • 2 tablespoon juice from one lemon
  • salt and freshly cracked black pepper

  1. Set aside 1/4 cup peas for garnish. Place remaining peas, olive oil, garlic, and lemon juice in bowl of food processor and process until smooth puree is formed, scraping down sides as necessary, about 30 seconds total.

  2. Transfer hummus to serving bowl, sprinkle with remaining whole peas, drizzle with additional extra-virgin olive oil, and serve with crostini or pita bread. For Green Pea Hummus with Mint and Feta: Follow directions for Green Pea Hummus adding 1/2 cup of chopped fresh mint leaves and 2 ounces crumbled feta cheese along with other ingredients to food processor in step 1. Serve garnished with additional chopped mint and crumbled feta. For Green Pea Hummus with Black Pepper and Pecorino Romano: Follow directions for Green Pea Hummus adding 1 ounce of grated Pecorino Romano and extra 1 teaspoon coarsely cracked black pepper along with other ingredients to food processor in step 1. Grate additional cheese and crack additional pepper over bowl before serving.

Two other recipes to try, perhaps less healthy but still delicious!
