Summertime and the drinking's easy! Cocktail time approacheth, it's hot as Hades, and what to serve? Here are some new recipes (from Southern Living) to add to that old repertoire.
MELON AGUA FRESCA
Process 4 cups of watermelon, cantaloupe, or honeydew melons and 1/4 cup sugar in a blender until smooth, scraping down the sides as you go. Pour mixture through a fine wire strainer and into a pitcher, discarding the solids. Stir in 2 cups cold water and cover and chill until ready to serve.
*Where the Style Things Are version: Add 1 cup cold vodka with the water and chill until ready to serve.
BOURBON ARNOLD PALMER
Bring 3 cups water to a boil. Remove from heat, add 2 family-size tea bags and stir. Cover and steep 10 minutes. Remove and discard tea bags, stir in 1/2 cup sugar until dissolved. Pour tea into a serving vessel and stir in 4 cups cold water and 1 can (6oz) frozen lemonade concentrate. Serve over ice.
*Where the Style Things Are version: Add 1 cup Bourbon when adding the frozen lemonade concentrate.
